Don Bosco Maritime Academy
Don Bosco Maritime Academy (DBMA), setup in 1998, to offer Multi-Dimensional Training in a wide range of Maritime and Engineering Disciplines for Engineers, Technicians and Seamen.
We offer various Marine as well as workshop based tailor made courses as per the requirements of different Shipping Companies, Shipyards & Heavy Fabrication Industries (including Overseas companies).
Our workshops are spread over a large area of more than 65,000 sq. feet, besides a Fabrication yard of more than 12000 sq. feet and have sufficient Resources and Facilities for Training large numbers of candidates simultaneously.
We have Trained / Tested more than 20,000 plus trainees in Welding, Fabrication, Machine Shop, Marine Machinery, Electro technology, Scaffolding and other Workshop Based Skills Enhancement Courses.
We also conduct Trade / Skill Tests for companies as per Specific Job Requirements.
The campus is spread over an area of 6 acres with lush green football fields and magnificent trees creating an ideal atmosphere to pursue learning.

1. Lathe Workshop
Our Machine Workshop is large, airy and well equipped for training purposes. We have 14 nos. Italian & Indian Lathe Machines, available for regular training needs. We also have Pedestal Grinders, Pillar Drill Machines, Gang Drilling Machine, Radial Drill, Shapers, Milling Machines, Grinding Machines and Power Hacksaws. We conduct training mainly on Lathe but other machining operations such as Milling, Grinding, etc. are also available Trainees work on one machine per trainee basis (for Lathe) and thus get confidence of working on machines and use of the precision instruments for producing as per drawing or as per sample. We conduct training for Engineers, Fitters and Cadets besides trainee and experienced workmen (refresher or skills enhancement courses) from many shipping industries. Our training is short, intensive and with a specific training objective that ends with an Evaluation Test.
2. Welding Workshops
DBMA has a very strong and dynamic Welding Training Infrastructure whose core strength is the quality of expertise and experience of the training team. We have Welding Instructors with long industrial experience besides necessary qualifications and all are duly certified 6G Welders by DNV. We have machines for GTAW (TIG) / GMAW (MIG) / FCAW (Self and Gas Shielded) / SAW (Submerged Arc), Arc Gouging, Plasma Cutting processes. SMAW (MMAW) is our forte and a large number of trainees have benefitted from this training. We train welders in all the above processes in Fillet or Butt, in any position from 1G to 6G / 6 GR and on metals such as C.S., S.S., High Tensile Steel, Aluminum, Copper, Brass etc. Our training is short, intensive and with a specific training objective that ends with an Evaluation Test. Training is conducted with one machine per trainee. Along with Electric Arc Welding, we also train in Gas Welding, Brazing and Gas Cutting using Oxygen / Fuel / Acetylene Gas and Handheld Torches besides PUG Machines.
