Q.1. What is the eligibility criteria to joint 4-months Basic Marine Fitters course?
Ans: Anyone who has passed 10th std. or more from the any state can join marine fitters course after passing entrance exam conducted by DBMA.
Q.2. What are the eligibility criteria to join 2-months Refresher Marine Fitter Course?
Ans: Any one with six months sailing experience on any type of ships and an endorsement of their sailing on the CDC can join 2-months refresher course at DBMA. No entrance exam for the sailing seafarer.
Q.3. What is the eligibility criteria about Workshop based courses?
Ans: Any one who passed 10th std. from any where and wish to learn any skills like Basic Welding, Advanced welding, Lathe Work, Marine Machinery Overhaul, Fabrication, Hydroblasting skills, Basic Fitting, Scaffolding etc. can undergo the courses at DBMA.
Q.4. What will happen if the candidate fails the Entrance Exam in case of 4-months course?
Ans: DBMA gives two more attempts to the candidates to re-appear for the entrance exam. If he/she still fails the entrance, DBMA deducts Rs. 2,000/- for the 2 attempts and return the balance amount to the same account from where it was transferred. However if the candidate passes in any of the attempts, DBMA does not charge the candidate for entrance exam and the Rs. 25,000/- which was deposited before entrance exam is considered as the 1st instalment fees. Thereafter candidate can pay RS. 25,000/- every month.
Q.5. Can the 2-months Refresher Marine Fitters course, candidate pay their fees in instalments?
Ans: Yes. They can pay their fees in two instalments of Rs. 36,000/- each.
Q.6. What about instalment facilities of other courses and trade test?
Ans: All the other course are short terms and the fees are also affordable, hence there is no instalment facilities available.
Q.7. Do the candidate need Passport, CDC and STCW courses certificate to join the 4-months Basic Marine Fitter’s course?
Ans: Not compulsory, with only 10th std. marksheet candidate can undergo the course but if they have Passport, CDC and STCW it is easier for the academy to issue the certificate at the end of the course.
Q.8. Are there any placement available if the candidate undergo any course as DBMA?
Ans: No placement is guaranteed, however we may recommend good candidates in case there is a request from the shipping company.
Q.9. Is there any exit exam for the fitter’s course?
Ans: For 4-months Basic Marine Fitter’s course there is a oral exam for all modules at the end of the course, while for other courses there is no exam we only prepare and record their performance level as a continual improvement.
Q.10. What about Boarding & Lodging facilities?
Ans: Boarding & Lodging facilities are available but need to book in advanced by sending e-mail or over the phone and they are charged for the same separately. (not included in the fees)
Q.11. Are the PPE kits supplied by the academy?
Ans: For the 4-months and 2-months courses PPE kits and notes are provided. For the other courses candidates need to bring their own Boiler Suit and Safety shoes.
